Plus North 2014

I finally feel recovered enough to blog about the fabulous time I had at Plus North this year (yes I know it was almost a month ago, but that is how much of a wonderful time I had).

I can’t believe I hadn't been before, it was fantastic. For those of you that don’t know Plus North is an annual fashion extravaganza where brands, bloggers and curvy ladies all come together and truly celebrate style at any size. There was some great brands with stalls and fashion shows but my favourite part was meeting all the like minded fashion lovers.

This year’s event was held in The Baracoa Bar in Leeds, so we set off early on the Friday morning to make the almost 400 mile trip from sunny Cornwall to Leeds; the event started early afternoon on Saturday 30th August.

As a chunky chick that is comfortable with my body, my ever changing style and in the knowledge that I am almost always going to be the biggest lady in the room (and 90% of the time the biggest person in the room) as a rule I don’t get too nervous about going to events and meeting new people because of how I look. However a few of the fabulous ladies I met on the day explained they normally would get extreme anxiety over this kind of event because of their size / clothing however they all said that they felt extremely welcomed at plus north. I have to say anyone who didn't go to the event because they felt like this next year you have to go there is no judgement just support.
Many of the ladies who attended (including myself) did not meet societies standard of beauty ( #effyourbeautystandards ) however I have never seen so many gorgeous women in one place in my whole life.  I have to admit I did fan girl slightly over some of the ladies who attended as they are my blogging hero's or part of my instagram favourites. So many positive and confident role models for all women out there not only expressing them self in such a creative way but proving to the world that big is beautiful (so is small but before anyone thinks I’m a hater).

There was so many beautiful women strutting their stuff on the catwalk, the other thing I really loved because of the wide range of brands there was something for every taste from super glam, to grunge to lingerie! I watched all but two of the shows (I was upstairs trying on some fab dresses by apples and pears) and what I loved far more than the beautiful clothes was the feeling and the vibe in the room every model was cheered approved and celebrated for being amazing (and much braver than me).

oh before I go anywhere I have to talk about the amazing raffle with the super awesome prizes such as vouchers, dresses, make up brushes, bras and so much more (I won three prizes and a haul will be up on my YouTube channel soon).

In the evening the hubby came with me and even though the venue staff wasn't the greatest we still had an amazing time. I got to talk to some of my favourite bloggers and finally got time to sit down with the amazing Emma (it's Em) and have a lovely chat which felt like she was and old friend rather than the actual truth that this had been the first time we had met.

My only regret on the whole event was I was unable to attend the Sunday, the team did such an fantastic job and I truly cannot wait till next year (I’m just hoping it doesn't take 11 hours in the car next time).

Plus North Nerves

Hello my Loves

I hope this finds you all smiley and good

The last few days I have been preparing my things, as on Friday I'm am making the 390 mile long car journey from sunny Cornwall to Leeds; for this years plus north.

For those of you that don't know Plus North is an amazing event that according to the website is

"Open to members of the public and bloggers alike, Plus North is a celebration of all things Plus!! A chance for you to meet the brands, meet fellow bloggers and plus size ladies and spend an afternoon with like-minded folk, talking about the thing we love the most.....Fashion!!!".

I am beyond excited as it will be my first ever event like this but at the same time I am extremely nervous as I'm going to the day event by myself and I only know one other person who is going (The wonderful Emma from It's Em http://itsemchannel.blogspot.co.uk ) But as Emma is a part of the plus north team i know she is going to be super busy.

I'm only going on the Saturday as we have to travel back on the Sunday so I'm gutted to be missing out on the workshops and the clothes swapping but i am very excited to see all the amazing clothes and the beautiful ladies. This again is making me nervous about what to wear etc I am also going to the evening event and the hubby is coming with me so i know i will be fine.

I will be vlogging for my youtube over the weekend so if you are not going to make it you should be able to see some of the day, If anyone is going please get in contact i'd love to see a friendly face on the day.

Lots of Love

My Perfect Man

Hello Loves

This may seem like a odd post to be making however at work today my colleagues were playing a bit of a game  (yes they were being very slack) talking about who/what would make their perfect partner. As the gaffer I wasn't invited to play (and of course I was working far too hard to join in); but while being a bus wanker on the way home it did make me think.

As some of you may know I am married to my best friend and we have been together 11 and a half years but I'm sure given the chance John would morph me into some Kelly Brook / Nigella Lawson / Kate Middleton mixing pot so I'm doing this guilt free.

Let's start with the  fun shallow things :)

Number 1 The big rugby player, now I'm not talking about the small quick chaps I want one of the big boys on the back row. Tall, broad and solid! As a big girly I don't want a man smaller than me and even at 5'7 I like going on my tippy toes for a  kiss.

Number 2 The hair, big thick hair is a must I love playing with it.

Number 3 Glasses, the nerdier the better old school NHS thick frame would be perfect.

Number 4 Tattoos (the more the better), we know tattoos are hot but for me it's more about having a passion for that kind of art. I also love the confidence you normally find with peeps that are covered in tattoos, it's like this is me this is my style and I don't give a F if you judge me.

Number 5 Beard's / Goatee / bum fluff, I love a big full beard it screams manly to me however any form of face fuzz normally ticks my box.

And the other stuff
Number 6 Must be able to make me laugh, I honestly believe that laughter (and honesty) is the secret to a happy long relationship. If I could only have one thing off this whole list this would be it.

Number 7 An accent, any  strong accent makes me pay attention but my favourite has to be Northern

Number 8 Faith, now this seems odd but I  need a  man with faith. He doesn't necessarily have to be the same as my own but needs to have some form of belief structure.

Number 9 Must love dogs, every home needs a dog.

Number 10 Needs to understand we will forever have mismatched "vintage" (charity shop) plates, bowls, cups etc. (John hates this one).

Number 11 Not mind that I will be sharing our lives on the Internet.

Number 12 Must love me for me!

Now number 12 may seem crazy as I just listed all the things I want but in the next breath saying that they can't want to change me but it's my list and I'm sticking to it.

I can't end this without talking about  my lovely hubby John. He is all of the above  (apart from the tattoos he's petrified of needles) and yes I may of convinced him to grow the beard and we owed Darwin before he realised he loves dogs, but I'm pretty happy with the chap I ended up with. We are each others happy ever after :)

PS I had to kiss a lot of frogs before I got this one and it was a lot of bloody fun so you single peeps enjoy it x

Back for good!?! :)

Hello Loves

Well I haven't been here for a while, hasn't life changed since the last time I've been on here.

  • Well I lost my job of almost 10 years #Gutted
  • I spent the redundancy money on pretty shiny things
  • I really focused on my Youtube and started a new vlog channel called Beachlife.
  • I got a new job
  • We got a new furry baby #GillyMonster

I am so happy with the direction my Youtube is going but for the longest time I wanted to start blogging again, but I wasn't sure if to keep this blog going or to start a new one. So I am going to get this one back up and running and I thank you (yes you) for reading this.

So I am not promising daily updates but im going to try harder at this blogging lark and fingers crossed you will enjoy it.

Massive Hugs

Katy
